NICU at Regional West get some upgrades

Posted: Updated:

An ordinarily restricted area at Regional West hospital is open for visitors today to show off some remodeling.

The Regional West Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) got some upgrades.

The NICU now has eight beds instead of six and a new c-section procedure and formula prep room was added to the wing.

The nurses station was also expanded to allow for a more functional workspace.

Birth and Infant Care Center Director, Connie Rupp says, "Sometimes if we were at capacity we would have to ship and so what we did was we expanded in order to accommodate a larger volume even though it's 2 beds it matters when you have a baby."

The Regional West foundation raised 90,000 dollars for the new beds.
