The aunt of a murdered Gering toddler says the grand jury - brings new hope for the family.
This week Banner County Judge Jim Zimmerman was appointed as the special prosecutor for the grand jury.
Four years ago, 2-year-old Juliette Geurts was found dead in her Gering home.
No arrests were made, but this summer enough signatures were collected to force the grand jury.
Juliette's Aunt Monica hall hopes a fresh set of eyes looking at the evidence will lead to an indictment.
"That big mountain that we're going to climb with this grand jury and hope they come out with indictments. But then we know it's a long road ahead because there'll still be a criminal trial once those indictments came out, so we have a long road to go yet, but this is a big step in that direction."
There were three people in the house at the time of the murder- the girl's mother, her boyfriend and an ex-boyfriend.
