The public is being asked for *their* input on what Nebraska needs to comply with one part of the federal health care law.
Governor Dave Heineman says a series of informal public meetings has been scheduled to collect input on the state's effort to establish a health insurance exchange.
The exchanges are online markets in which consumers and small businesses can shop for health insurance.
Heineman announced the meetings Wednesday morning as the state prepares a blueprint for a health exchange that is due to the federal government on November 16th.
"Again we're trying to keep the process very open, very public and we want to hear from citizens," explains Heineman. "And we think now is the appropriate time given we're getting a lot closer to this final decision."
One of those statewide meetings will be held in Gering on August 27th and will be the only local hearing for panhandle residents to voice their opinion.
