Scottsbluff's chief of police has submitted his letter of resignation.
This morning, Scottsbluff City Manager Rick Kuckkahn received Alex Moreno's resignation letter, effective October first.
The resignation comes after a lawsuit was filed by Tamara Villanueva alleging that Moreno harassed her after a one-month-long sexual affair came to an end.
Kuckkahn says that Moreno is leaving the police department in excellent shape, and that quality service will be maintained until the city decides how to fill the vacancy.
"Alex has served this community with distinction and provided services to this community that are difficult to match," explains Kuckkahn. "He's been an excellent chief."
There are a couple of agreements that were included in the resignation letter that will be discussed in Monday's city council meeting.
