A KOTA Territory superintendent is ready to retire at the end of the school year, after devoting six decades to the education field.
Superintendent Don Hague has announced he's ready to retire after his 12th year in Gering.
Hague began teaching in 1969, and made the switch to Superintendent in Kansas back in 1988.
During his tenure at Gering, Hague says passing the bond issue to build a new Lincoln Elementary School was his crowning achievement.
"You know, Gering hadn't passed a bond issue for over 30 years," explains Hague. "And we were able to pass the bond issue, build a brand new building-state of the art building- that'll be here for a long long time. That was a big accomplishment."
Hague says his announcement will give the Gering School Board plenty of time to begin the search to find a replacement.
