Mitchell woman receives $10,000 scholarship

And a local nursing student is the recipient of a hefty scholarship.

The Regional West Foundation and Volunteers and Friends of Regional West recently awarded a $10,000 scholarship to Marcene Wiegand of Mitchell.

The third year nursing student and single mother says the scholarship is "a true blessing" and "takes a big weight off her shoulders".

Wiegand currently works in Regional West's surgical unit and intends to continue working at the hospital following her May 2013 graduation.
