Members of two popular museums in the Valley overwhelming vote "yes" to merge the two entities.
Members of the Farm and Ranch and North Platte Valley Museums met last night for the official vote.
A total of 157 "yes" votes trumped the 12 nay-sayers to let the merger go forward.
The new conglomerated museum will be called Legacy of the Plains.
Betty Weideman is a member of both organizations, and she is excited for the new museum to become a reality, "Well I'm very much in favor of it, and I think it will be a wonderful facility when its done."
Farm and Ranch President Larry Hubbard says there is a lot of work to be done now that voters approved the merger. "There's a lot of different committees. So you if you are interested in serving on a committee, please get a hold of some of us. I'm sure there's a committee that you would fit in on, and could do a good job for. It's going to take a lot of volunteers before this is completed."
Board members hope to break ground on the Legacy of the Plains museum by October.
