Museum merger fundraising concert tonight

Posted: Updated:

Just two days after a major Panhandle museum merger is approved, the community celebrates and raises funds through music.

Hundreds are expected to attend the 3rd annual Farm and Ranch Museum benefit concert taking place today at Five Rocks Amphitheater.

Local gospel group, Prairie Friends, will open the show for Jimmy Fortune.

The proceeds will assist in the merger of the North Platte Valley Museum and Farm and Ranch Museum.

FARM Board Member, Marty Martinson says, "Well we are hoping that we can raise somewhere in the vicinity of 25 to 30 thousand dollars. It'll depend of course on the turn out we get this evening. It's going to be a certainly beautiful evening so we definitely invite everyone to come on out."

The move, merger and new construction at the new "Legacy of the Plains Museum" is expected to cost more than $1.5 million dollars.
