Alliance man behind bars after high speed car chase

An Alliance man is behind bars after leading police on a high speed chase.

25-year-old Matthew Gentleman was arrested after officers pursued him for nearly 50 miles from Gering to Alliance on Saturday.

Gering Police Captain Jason Rogers says Gentleman was driving erratically and refused to stop.

Police say at one time speeds reached 80 miles per hour.

Gentleman was finally caught after police stopped his car with spike strips and chased him on foot.

No injuries were reported.

Gering Police were assisted by the Nebraska State Patrol and 5 other local law enforcement agencies.
