Scottsbluff's interim chief of police is excited to take on his added responsibilities.
Captain Kevin Spencer is acting chief following Alex Moreno's resignation earlier this month.
Captain Spencer says he has double duties right now, but will begin to delegate some of his captain duties once settled.
Spencer has been with the department for 12 years and says he hopes for a smooth transition while he's at the helm.
" I'm definitely excited about leading the department," explains Spencer. "It's a great opportunity, it's a great department. I'm very proud of this agency and the work that they do- the accomplishments- and the crimes that they've solved. I'm just very blessed to be part of this agency."
There's no word on when the Scottsbluff City Council will begin taking steps on finding a permanent replacement for Moreno.
