Legendary steam engine to blow through Gering on Thursday

A piece of history is set to rumble into KOTA Territory.

A classic steam engine will roll through Gering Thursday as part of Union Pacific's 150th anniversary.

The No. 884 train is traveling more than 13,000 miles through 15 states commemorating the 1862 pacific railway act and the beginning of multi-state transportation services.

Panhandle spectators can catch a glimpse of the train in Gering around 1:30 PM.
