Belt tightening on the Scottsbluff County budget has claimed the jobs of at least 8 county employees.
Several corrections officers at the Scottsbluff County Detention Center have been let go due to a "reduction of force".
Scottsbluff County Human Resources Director, Jerry Crable says the layoffs are due to budget restraints.
Crable says it's been a tight year with a reduction in state funds and increases in operating costs at the detention center.
County Commissioner, Mike Marker says they are working on building a balanced budget and sometimes these things happen.
County officials did not comment on whether this is the end...or just the beginning of the layoffs across the county.
