With the holiday weekend just around the corner, staff at Lake Minatare State Recreation area are expecting a good turnout.
Some early birds have already claimed spots reserved for RV campers, and more will be rolling through in the coming days.
Park Superintendent Dan Thornton says traditionally, the Labor Day weekend crowd is usually solid. It's not as busy as Memorial Day or Fourth of July, but there's always a good mix of locals and out-of-state visitors.
For those looking to spend the entire weekend out there, Thornton says you will be needing to bring your tent. "Right now, all of our reservable sites are full on the electric pads. That usually indicates that the rest of the electric sites will fill up. We'll have a lot of primitive camping available both on site and at this time of the year, on the beach also."
Lake Minatare will remain open for camping until mid-October, which should be especially nice if the warm temperatures continue into the fall.
