Law enforcement officers that were shot during a 14–hour–standoff in Alliance are honored for putting their lives on the line.
Trooper Timothy Flick with the Nebraska State Patrol, and Alliance police officers Kirk Felker and Matt Shannon were all honored with the military order of the purple heart "first responder citation."
These men were all shot by Andres Gonzales as he held a pharmacy owner hostage on June 12th.
The standoff ended 14 hours later after gonzales refused to surrender.
Also honored was trooper Jeffrey Van Stelton, for surviving a fiery crash with an unlicensed driver.
