With the 9/11 Anniversary, comes a reminder we need to honor our hard working veterans.
The Hot Springs South Dakota VA Medical Center will hold a Stand Down for Panhandle veterans.
The information fair starts at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday morning and runs until 3:00 p.m. at the VFW Post in Gering.
The center is bringing down staff to enroll veterans in the Scottsbluff Out–patient Clinical Medical Center.
They're joining representatives from the Nebraska Workforce Development and State Vocational Rehab, as well as the Aging Office of Western Nebraska.
Someone will also be available to talk to veterans about their VA claims to ensure they get the benefits they're entitled to.
John Brehm says another great part about the event is free winter clothes for veterans.
"They are going to bring down some clothing, hats and gloves. They're going to bring down, we're being optimistic, we think they're going to have at least 125 people there bringing about 125 packets of bags of winter clothing for veterans if they need it or want it."
Brehm says he wants to make sure all veterans are enrolled in the health system and if they're not, to bring their DD-214 or discharge papers to be enrolled.
