People across KOTA Territory took time today to reflect on the worst act of terrorism to take place on U.S. soil.
A sign on the side of "Diamond Vogel" in Scottsbluff simply reads "Remember 9/11". Employee Greg Elliott made the sign after the life changing events unfolded that fateful morning, 11 years ago.
"Every generation has something to prompt them to wake up, and for the World War II generation, it was Pearl Harbor. For us it was definitely 9/11," explains Elliott. "It was a big wake up call."
Many Americans remember exactly where they were and what they were doing, after finding out about the attacks.
Jack McCarthy of Scottsbluff says the events that transpired that day seemed surreal.
"When I woke up that morning, I kind of normally watch the news when I get up , and saw this airplane flying into this building," recalls McCarthy. "I thought,'Wow, what an incredible movie- I guess I'll watch this.' And then it dawned on me that these planes were flying into our buildings and it was really a shock. It just blew me away that this was happening to us."
