Inmate starts fire at SB County Detention Center

Police are investigating a fire started by an inmate in a maximum security pod at the Scottsbluff County Detention Center.

Scottsbluff County Detention Center Director, Ron Johns says inmate Brian Bloom started a fire in his cell yesterday afternoon.

Johns says Bloom burned some papers, but he doesn't know how the fire started.

There was no damage to the cell but smoke was visible.

The County Attorney will decide if charges will be brought against Bloom.

Bloom is currently in jail on charges of vehicular homicide and manslaughter.
