Rubber Duck Dash a success

Posted: Updated:

For the first time in three years, The United Way of Western Nebraska's biggest fundraiser's returns to its original roots on the North Platte River.

For the past two years, the Rubber Duck Dash was held on land due to high river levels.

But mother nature was able to cooperate, and a big turnout to the YMCA's Trail's West Camp helped for a strong fundraising campaign effort.

The United Way met its goal of selling 20-thousand rubber ducks just before today's race.

Event co-chair Marcia Sherlock thinks one key factor helped this years turnout, "Because we're back at the river.. And we're giving away magnificent Camero."

13-year-old Jacob Krause *officially* won the Camero, but his parents will be accepting the prize on his behalf until he is old enough to drive.
