Another mountain lion was shot and killed in the Panhandle over the weekend.
Sam Wilson with the Nebraska Game and Parks in Lincoln confirmed that a young male mountain lion weighing about 110 pounds was shot in a ranchers yard east of Rushville after family members spotted it in a tree.
Wilson said young mountain lions often leave their home range looking for their own territory and a mate.
The rancher has children and livestock and state law permits citizens to shoot mountain lions if they present a threat.
The rancher notified state game and parks and they have the mountain lion carcass.
Relocating mountain lions in Nebraska is difficult since the state is 98% privately owned.
