Sugar Beet Harvest is upon us, and it's bringing a traffic detour along.
Traffic problems are always an issue at the Western Sugar Beet Factory.
Moving pulp from the sugar factory to the North side of the road creates heavy truck traffic during the harvest.
Scotts Bluff County Commissioners say closing east overland from 21st to Highway 26 will be safer during the harvest.
Commissioners say closing the road for a few months will give the sugar company time to find a more permanent solution.
But a county commissioner worries about the affect it will have on neighboring businesses.
"Originally they wanted to do it from September to March. I happened to have voted against it because my concern is for the merchants along east overland."
The closure will take place through the first of November.
