Scottsbluff parking lot gets a boost of green

Updated:

Kota Territory gardening enthusiasts bring a bit of green to the City of Scottsbluff.

Scottsbluff High School horticulture students and four master gardeners use their green thumbs to landscape several projects in the community.

The City of Scottsbluff has a $55,000 grant from the Nebraska Environmental Trust to plant flowers and trees.

The Nebraska Forest Service and Scottsbluff Storm Water Specialist, Annie Folck designed the garden on Avenue A and 18th street.

Folck says, "We wanted to do something to use rainwater, to use storm water that runs off as part of our irrigation water for our landscaping"

The landscaping group will plant perennials at the newly landscaped parking lot on Friday.

They are also looking for other projects to do in public areas around the Scottsbluff area.
