Tensions run high for KOTA territory farmers.
During Senator Joe Nelson's press conference today, he discusses the pending status of the Farm Bill.
Representatives came together to sign a petition for a new five year Farm Bill.
The current bill expires on September 30th but if the new petition gets the signatures it needs, the vote still won't come until November.
Nelson says Nebraskans should know the local consequences of having no Farm Bill.
"If the current law expires in a few weeks the farm bill defaults to the 1949 law. They don't know that the conservative and rural development, and support for commodity programs won't be renewed."
Nelson says almost 40 programs stand to lose financing without a new Farm Bill in place.
