The autopsy on a dog that was mutilated in rural Scotts Bluff County is complete… but it may be a few days before the report is submitted.
Ike is the three-year-old German Sheppard who gained national attention after his owners found him badly cut after venturing off their property.
A Scottsbluff veterinarian euthanized him this weekend after giving him little chance to survive.
A forensic pathologist from Colorado State University completed an autopsy on the dog to see how the cuts got there. However Ike's owners were told that the pathologist wants to confer with colleagues before submitting the full report.
The Scotts Bluff County Sheriff's Department is investigating this as a crime, and has interviewed numerous people. No arrests have been made as of Thursday morning.
