A Nebraska legislator says the U.S. Senate is not looking at budget resolution in a responsible way.
Senator Mike Johanns says the senate has a virtually non-existent long-term budget process.
Johanns says the Senate is working on a bill to keep the government's lights on until March of next year,
He also says the Senate majority leadership has not taken up a single appropriations measure this year.
Johanns says, "In fact, for the first time in a half a century, we're not going to do a defense appropriations bill if you can imagine that...so once again we're caught up in a situation of having to do a continuing resolution."
The House recently passed a budget resolution bill and Johanns expects the Senate will pass it as well.
