Congress is not going to pass a new farm bill or extension before the current farm bill expires at the end of the month and that's disappointing to one Nebraska congressman.
Congressman Adrian Smith says he is unhappy that the house was not able to get anything done and says both parties owe it to America to find common ground.
Smith says when Congress reconvenes in November it's urgent everyone comes to an agreement on a responsible long term farm policy. "There's mixed message from agriculture groups and so we're just trying to meld all the various opinions out there and move forward without undermining a bright spot in the American economy"
Smith says this won't be the first time the farm bill that has expired without a new one in place.
