Missing Gering man found safe, may face criminal charges

Posted: Updated:

A Gering teenager has been found after being reported missing on Monday but now he could face criminal charges.

Gering Police Investigator Henry Moreno confirmed that 19-year-old Cruz Barraza is no longer missing and he has been found safe.

Scottsbluff County Attorney Doug Warner says Barraza called his parents to pick him up from Angora.

According to Warner, Barraza drove South of Minatare, where he abandoned his sister's Chevy pick-up, then stole a car.

Minatare Police say there was blood found in the pick-up truck but Warner says the blood is from what appears to be self-inflicted wounds.

Warner says he will review the case to see if charges will be brought against Barazza.
