Keeping your pets contained within your property is not only the law in most cities, but it could also save their life.
Two Scotts Bluff County dogs died after escaping from their property this month.
Most city ordinances prohibit dogs from running loose. A Scottsbluff ordinance states -all dogs must be on a leash if they aren't on their property.
City Manager Rick Kuckkahn doesn't believe either dogs would have died if the dogs were contained on their property.
"The bottom line here is safety for other pets and safety for the citizens of the community so there isn't the annoyance or safety concerns with animals running on the loose," explains Kuckkahn.
Most cities in KOTA Territory have ordinances in effect that prohibit dogs from wandering off their property.
