After five years, the Huskers Sports Department will see some changes.
Athletic Director Tom Osborne announced he will retire as of January 1st.
Osborne will stay on for six months after to help a new athletic director transition into the position.
Now, the university will begin the search for a replacement.
Husker fan Luke Stobel says he's done a great job.
"I don't know I guess I wouldn't have really seen that coming. He's been a very big part of the university for a long time and obviously done a lot for the program, and for the state. So surprising, but if you know I guess if he feels like it's time to quit then."
Stobel says it's safe to say Osborne has had an eventful career.
