Two SBCo. CERT members recognized for efforts

A KOTA Territory father/son duo is recognized this morning for their role in excellence in emergency preparedness and disaster response.

Lieutenant Governor Rick Sheehy announces that Randy and Tyler Kleager are two of the seven statewide winners of the 2012 "Be Prepared" awards.

Randy Kleager received the "Local Hero" award for taking on the role of incident commander during the 2011 search for Kerra Wilson of Mitchell.

Tyler Kleager won the "Citizen Corps Volunteer of the Year" award for his efforts as team leader for the Scotts Bluff County "Community Emergency Response Team."

Both are active members with the local CERT team, but Tyler says he and his father aren't in it for the recognition.

"This is not something that I was working towards. This was not a goal I had in mind. The things I do for cert and the things I do with cert for this community are for the betterment of the community and for the betterment of this area. "

The lieutenant governor will be in Scottsbluff in October to formally present the Kleager's with their awards.
