An increasing number of students are choosing to go to college in the Nebraska panhandle.
Enrollment at Chadron State College is up nearly 2% this semester.
Interim President Randy Rhine says it's possible that the headcount at the end of the school year could be over 3,000 students, an enrollment number Chadron state hasn't reached in more than 17 years.
Rhine says enrollment in the graduate program is also up about 60 students.
Rhine says enrollment has been consistently on the rise since 2006.
