People around the U.S. got a treat today, free access to the National Parks and Forests.
Free Fee Day is the national parks way of celebrating National Public Lands Day.
For the 14th year more than 170,000 volunteers head out to their national parks to help make them better.
Each park or forest has different needs and up-keep.
Ranger Legault says National Public Lands Day gives people a way to get involved and really help out.
"We had a half a dozen volunteers come out today and help us fill 7 pickup truckloads of russian thistle and also puncture pine, which we're glad to be rid of today. It helps beautify our prairie."
Legault says each year there's people willing to come out to help better the park.
