Increased workloads for many city of Scottsbluff employees has prompted the creation of a new position.
On Monday, the city began advertising the position of Assistant City Manager.
Earlier this year, the city council approved the move for the upcoming budget cycle.
City Manager Rick Kuckkahn says with the increased volume of work coming down the pipe, the new position is a-must.
"It's absolutely necessary," explains Kuckkahn. "We've always been very careful whenever we hire a new position; we make absolutely sure that we really needed it. And I would say we probably erred on the side of under-hiring than over-hiring in the city
Kuckkahn says it will take somebody with a diverse background to fill the position, but is not opposed to hiring a recent college graduate who majored in business administration.
