It was a successful weekend for troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol, as two traffic stops leads to the seizure of 188 pounds of marijuana.
The larger bust was in Deuel County near junction of Interstates 76 and 80.
A trooper stopped a car for speeding, and was given consent to search the vehicle.
The search led to the seizure of 105 pounds of marijuana that was located in two duffel bags in the trunk.
The driver… 50 year old Sylvester Cage of Plymouth, Minnesota, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.
A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for October 18th in Deuel County Court.
The second seizure happened just before 11:30 a.m., Sunday, Sept. 30, a trooper stopped an eastbound 2006 Nissan Titan pickup for speeding three miles west of Kearney on Interstate 80. The trooper was given consent to search the pickup. The search led to the seizure of 83 lbs. of marijuana. The marijuana was located in three suitcases in the cab and bed of the pickup.
The driver and lone occupant of the vehicle, Neftali Gutierrez Barajas, 26, a Mexican National, was lodged in the Buffalo County Detention Center on a charge of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.
