Some farmers in Western Nebraska will have significantly less irrigation water to work with come next year.
The Central Nebraska Public Power and Irrigation District's board of directors recently voted to limit the water supply next year.
Farmers will only be allotted 10 inches of water an acre.
Normally, irrigation customers can expect up to 18 inches an acre for 12 weeks.
With the state still suffering from drought demand is high for irrigation water from district resources such as Lake McConaughy.
Lake Mac ended the irrigation season at 53% of capacity.
