Sandwich attack lands Melbeta man in jail

A western Nebraska man is in jailed after police say he assaulted his wife with a sandwich.

50-year-old Larry Spurling appeared in Scotts Bluff County Court Monday to face a charge of disturbing the peace.

The arrest affidavit shows Spurling's wife called 911 late Sunday and reported he pushed her down during an argument and rubbed a sandwich in her face.

Court documents state a deputy found several pieces of lunchmeat on the carpet outside a bedroom and pieces of bread in the bedroom.
