Voters in the Panhandle are Taking Advantage of Early Voting

Posted: Updated:

Voters in the Panhandle are taking advantage of early voting. That's according to Scottsbluff County Clerk Vera Dulaney.

She says there is an overwhelming number of people hitting the polls this week. She says with a presidential election and a highly contested US senate race it's not surprising that poll numbers are strong for both mail-in ballots and early voting.

"Very definitely, and that number has been increasing in recent elections. We have a lot of people that have sent in their applications and their ballots will be mailed out this week or very shortly thereafter."

Armeda Freel is excited to get her vote in early. She travels south for the winter, but says it is important to make sure she exercises her right to vote before leaving.

"It's easy for me to come down here in a small town and get my voting done and know that I don't have to count on the mail to get it through."

People wishing to register to vote, make changes to their registration, or participate in early voting have until October 26th to do so.
