The Nebraska State Patrol is being recognized for its traffic safety program.
The Patrol was awarded the 2011 "National Law Enforcement Challenge Award" for being the top agency for its size.
The recognition comes from the International Association of Chiefs of Police.
Captain Mike Gaudreault says the men and women who patrol Nebraska's highways take their job seriously and are deserving of the award.
"Here in Troop E, our troopers are specifically dedicated to restraint enforcement as well as alcohol enforcement. Those are the two areas we put the most emphasis on."
The Nebraska State Patrol also received first-place honors in its category in 2007 and 2009.
