Twenty-two post offices in western Nebraska and eastern Wyoming are slated for a reduction in hours in the near future. That's a move that has people living in affected communities outraged.
The U.S. Postal Service is reducing hours of the Melbeta post office to just two hours a day.
The USPS is beginning meetings across the state to determine *when* the hour changes will take affect. The agency is projecting losses of 15 - billion dollars this year.
But Melbeta business owner Chad Conklin says he doesn't believe small post offices should be singled out.
"If the man in the Sandhills' mail isn't just as important as a person in New York City, we don't have equality. And we have to support and serve every American big or small."
Melbeta's post office has some of the most drastic cuts. Many area post offices are cutting its hours from eight to four.
