The Flu Season is upon us, but it's not too late to take preventative measures.
The Regional West Health Clinic held walk-ins for flu shots today. With the recent cold weather, the clinic is just in time.
Nurse Paulette Shnell says the flu season might affect the Panhandle ahead of schedule.
She says that would likely be a direct result of the cool temperatures and sickness that often accompanies it.
"We usually don't see cases around the Mid-West till about December and there have actually been cases up in Wyoming and South Dakota. We haven't seen any in Nebraska yet but with them that close, we are sure to see an earlier flu season this year."
Schnell says anybody who is more than 6 months old should get a shot. Especially those who are considered 'high risk' including patients older than 65, young children, and pregnant women.
