With the recent abductions in Colorado and Wyoming, Scottsbluff police are reminding parents and kids about safety habits.
The Scottsbluff Police Department has experienced abduction cases before, so child safety hits close to home.
Police are advising parents to talk to their kids about how to stay safe and check in with their parents wherever they're going.
Officers say parents should also set some guidelines for where they're kids can and can't go and who they shouldn't talk to if approached.
"We just have to be mindful of the danger and do everything we can to educate the child as well as ourselves to minimize the risk that this occurs here.
Safety tips are listed on the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children's web site.
