The Listeria Outbreak that has already claimed the lives of four people across the country, including one Nebraskan, continues to trouble National Public Health Authorities.
Listeria is a bacterial infection usually spread through contaminated food.
In this case, a specific kind of ricotta cheese.
A spokesperson for the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services confirmed Monday that the state has seen one case associated with the outbreak.
They say Listeria contributed to the July death of an 80 year old Western Nebraska Woman.
State Health Officials say they were unable to confirm whether she had eaten the cheese.
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention identified 20 cases in 13 states as of last week. And a total of four people have died, and 19 have been hospitalized.
Frescolina marte brand ricotta salata cheese was recalled from stores last month.
