A rare form of Fungal Meningitis has sickened more than 200 people and killed 15 people.
The expanding outbreak of the meningitis in back pain patients is linked to steroid injections prepared by a compounding pharmacy.
The steroid medication was produced and distributed by the New England compounding center in Massachusetts.
The injectable steroid was never approved by the F.D.A and wasn't manufactured to their standards.
But Regional West Pharmacy Director, Nancy Sloan says we have nothing to worry about here in Scottsbluff.
"We've not seen it here because we don't obtain any of our medicines from this compounding pharmacy. All of our drugs are from a U.S.P, the United States Pharmacopia approved manufacturer."
the F.D.A standards are designed to ensure drugs are sterile and uncontaminated with bacteria or fungi.
