Sixth grade teacher Elizabeth Bohac says interactive learning is a pretty big deal for her class.

"Well, I've never seen a map this big. And kids don't usually get to walk on maps, so it's almost hands on, foots on feet on."

These giant maps are a part of National Geographic's Nat Geo Traveling Maps Program that started back in 2006.

The program tours the country bringing hands on and feet on geography education to thousands of students each year.

"Every state has their own geographic alliance and ours is GEON, and we work to promote geographic education for students."

This is the world's largest map of Asia, at 26 by 35 feet it illustrates Asia's countries, capitals and bodies of water.

Tara Dunn Coordinator for Geographic Education of Nebraska, says this program is a great way for kids learn.

"Well it's so important for students to get a mental map, picture in their mind of where places are. It makes what their studying in school so much more meaningful."

Not only do students get a copy of the world's largest map of Asia, but it comes with a trunk full of accessories such as interactive activities, props and photo cards.

"The accessories that come with the map go beyond teaching kids about the physical characteristics of the continent, they teach Asia's rich history, wildlife and varied cultures."

"They can understand where that place is and how it relates to them and the rest of the world."

Bohac says this experience is unique for her students, and is different than average classroom learning.

"We only have our textbooks and a few maps, and like I said they don't get to use or see things like this that often."
