Hearing scheduled for man who tried to have sexual encounter with 14-year-old

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for a man who unsuccessfully arranged a sexual encounter with a minor.

Court documents say 27-year-old Brandon Weatherhead of Bellevue posed as a fourteen year old in an online chat room, and tried arrange a meeting at a Gering motel room.

However, the person he was actually chatting with was an undercover investigator with the Nebraska State Patrol.

Weatherhead is charged with using an electronic device to solicit or entice a child under the age of 16.

He's back in court on October 22nd for a preliminary hearing.
