The sugar beet harvest is 60% complete, even with the high wind warnings.
Western Sugar has 29 and a half ton high quality crop, making it a record year for the area.
The crop has a 18% sugar average, a point higher than last year.
Western Sugar Cooperative Area Ag Manager Jerry Darnell says the freeze we experienced earlier this month locked in the beet crops sugar content.
"Last year we ended up having a 25 ton crop. We're about 4 tons more than we were a year ago and about a point higher in sugar so a real good crop."
Darnell says they expect to finish harvest on Halloween.
