A wildfire five miles south of Chadron is mostly contained tonight.
The US Forest Service says the 'Spotted Tail Fire' began yesterday and is now about 95 percent contained after it burned 83 acres.
Firefighters worked throughout the day to strengthen lines around the fire.
Pine Ridge Fire Management officer Weston Burch says volunteer firefighters did a good job of containing the fire and keeping it from spreading.
The land burned is part of the Nebraska National Forests and Grasslands.
