To have fireworks on New Year's Eve or not to have fireworks?
Tonight the Gering City Council will meet to decide the answer.
Fireworks vendor Greg Trautman wants the sale and igniting of fireworks for New Year's Eve to be permanent in Gering.
Gering City Council allowed fireworks to be displayed for the last two years on New Year's Eve.
Firework vendors say they haven't seen any major issues during the last two celebrations.
Trautman owns Fireworks Unlimited in Scottsbluff, and says fireworks are what people want on holidays.
"Yeah, it's just a great thing you know fireworks are something people associate with celebration. Obviously we're ringing in the new year and it's something our customers asked for, for years."
Trautman is hopeful the city council will approve a permanent firework ordinance.
