27th Street construction nearing completion

Posted: Updated:

It's taken more than three months... but a major construction project in Scottsbluff is nearly complete.

Construction crews began an overhaul project on 27th Street in July.

Since then, crews completed curb work, sidewalk repair, and upgrading ramps to comply with American Disability Association Standards.

During the last week, traffic's been slow as crews put a 1.5" mill-overlay along one of Scottsbluff's busiest streets.

Fortunately, Public Works Director Mark Bohl says this massive project is just about done.

"Now we're ready for the final 1.5", explains Bohl. "I know there's some concerns for the lip that's still there. That lip will be gone with our final inch and a half. I think we need about 3 days to finish- weather permitting- and today is not one of those days."

Motorists are asked to continue to use caution when driving through the work zones until all construction is complete.
