Computer shops getting ready for Windows 8 launch

Posted: Updated:

Microsoft is set to release its newest operating system at midnight.

Windows 8 is a dramatic overhaul from its past few platforms. Staff at Bytes Computer & Network Repair in Scottsbluff says the new platform is like nothing they have seen before.

"Well they kind of went away from the older operating system style with the start button," explains computer technician Jason Hamilton. "And now they're going app-based. On the desktop itself that we're familiar with is actually an app itself."

Hamilton says that many of the familiar icons and shortcuts for PC users are completely revamped. He suspects it will take PC users some time to get familiar with the new layout

So far there has *not* been many inquiries from locals on Windows 8, but staff at Bytes is ready to install and teach users how to use the new interface.

Microsoft is also releasing a version of Windows 8 that will be compatible will tablets and smart-phones.
