Nebraska State Patrol officers remind to drivers to stay safe now that the first significant snowfall of the season has arrived.
Portions of the panhandle received several inches of snow last night, causing slicker roads.
Snowy and icy roads can make driving more dangerous.
Captain Mike Gaudreault says after a long, dry summer, driving conditions are now much different. "Winter driving brings a different dynamic to that, because the road and weather conditions are such that you may not be able to drive at the speed limit and you may have to go below the speed limit."
He says checking your vehicle's windshield wipers and tires to make sure they are in good working condition will make winter driving safer.
